Fundations Level 1, Unit 1: Week 1 Focus: Reviews or teaches letter names, keywords, sounds and lower-case letter formations of letters from a-z. Refer to explanation and/ or script on page number given. Gala D. Co
Unit 2’s new concepts… • tapping to read words • tapping to spell • sentence reading • sentence dictation (4 weeks long) New procedures are added at this point--- Word of the Day, Word Talk, Trick Words, Echo-Find Letters and Words Dictation (dry erase and composition) Students will begin to do dictation in composition books instead of dry erase.
Unit 3’s new concept is… • digraphs (wh, ch, sh, th, ck) • how to mark up words A new procedure in Unit 3 is Story Time.

New concepts Unit 4: ff, ll, ss bonus letters and glued sound -all Unit 5: two new glued sounds –am and –an Unit 6: baseword and suffix –s, plurals Unit 7: more glued sounds –ang, -ing, -ong, -ung then –ank, -ink, -onk, -unk Unit 8: difference between blends and digraphs and also digraph blends Unit 9: closed syllables
New concepts Unit 10: blending up to 5 sounds in a closed syllable Unit 11: switch focus from sounds to syllables, syllable division Unit 12: suffix ending –es Unit 13: suffix –ed, -ing Unit 14: vowel-consonant-e
