  9. 4. webinars: how they work • A webinar is an internet-based seminar, common forms include (but are not limited to): • Live presentations with Q&A • Group discussions • There are different software solutions but common features include: • Able to watch powerpoint presentation • Able to hear speaker (and sometimes see the speaker) • Able to ask questions or comment through a chat box and interact with other participants. • Able to join with an audio connection by telephone

  10. 4. webinars: case study • 2 x 10 webinar series per year: • 10 webinars held each Tuesday over 10 weeks • Each with 2 speakers and 1-2 discussants followed by Q&A • Each webinar repeated in a second language (English/French or English/Spanish) • Recordings posted online: https://vimeo.com/ruralwater • It has become a central member-to-member knowledge exchange and learning activity for the network and boosts network membership • …but… big preparation time to train speakers and to chase them to prepare scripts and presentations so that they can be translated
