SAM and ALICE: General Points • ALICE has agreed a big upgrade of the SAM infrastructure for their tests • In collaboration with VECC developers • It will affect the following services: • VOBOXES: Establishment of a more robust and upgraded test suite • GOAL: Include VOBOXES in the availabilitycalculations • CREAM-CE: Inclusion of a specific ALICE test suite • NO SPECIFIC TESTS FOR WMS ARE FORESEEN • It must be in placedbefore the real data taking • Including in the Site rubustness planning of ALICE which startup with the T1/T2 site admins tutorial SAM TESTS REVIEW: ALICE VO

Current ALICE TESTS (I) • Affectingtwo services: LCG-CE and VOBOXES • LCG-CE • Included in the site availabilitycalculation • ALICE uses the standard test suite created for this service but executedwith ALICE credentials • Twocritical tests defined • JOB SUBMISSION • ACCESS TO THE SW AREA FROM WN • ALICE does not plan to change the test suite in the future regardingthis service SAM TESTS REVIEW: ALICE VO

Current ALICE TESTS (II) • VOBOXES • Specific test suite and SAM infrastructure created to fulfill ALICE requirements • Test suite executedateach VOBOX using ALICE credentials • Currently the test suite consists of 5 tests all of themcritical • PSR: Status of the proxy server registration • SA: Status of the sw area access • UPR: Status of the uer proxy registration • PM: Status of the proxy of the machine • PR: Status of the alice-b-x-proxyrenewal service • This test suite ensures the max granularity to test the generic VOBOX service • It canbethereforeexported to anyother VO sinceitdoes not test anyspecific ALICE related service SAM TESTS REVIEW: ALICE VO

  5. SAM and Dashboard • There are no inconsistencies between the SAM reported information and that of Dashboard • Example: CERN services SAM TESTS REVIEW: ALICE VO

ALICE Plans for SAM • Restructuration of the SAM infrastructure for the experiment • Affecting the generalwrapper and the sites registration procedureinto the SAM DB • Collaboration with SAM developers • Reforcement of the VOBOX test suite • Creation of a specific CREAM-CE test suite • Basicallydedicated to the direct job submission tests SAM TESTS REVIEW: ALICE VO

ALICE and the CREAM-CE • During the transition phase from the LCG-CE to the CREAM-CE ALICE isfacing a mix situation not visible in SAM • Sites providingboth CREAM and LCG-CE • Sites providingonly LCG-CE • Sites providingonly CREAM-CE (not toomany) • However SAM CT tests affects LCG-CE only • In order to have a more realistic situation, SAM will have to reflect the status of ALICE services ateach site • Increasing the cases for which CREAM-CE will have to act as the CT sensoralsoincluded in the availabilitycalculation • In most of the cases the availabilitycalculationwill have to bebased on a situation: LCG-CE OR CREAM-CE • This is one of the points ALICE willwork in the followingmonths SAM TESTS REVIEW: ALICE VO

The SAM UIs • Currentlyassociated to a specificaccount • Renewal of the user proxiesbased on a cron • Proposal: • Include a proxy renewalmechanism a la VOBOX • This procedure willensure: • Stilllimitedaccess to the UI (securityensured) • Severaldeveloperscanaccess the SAM UI (single point of failurealsoavoided) SAM TESTS REVIEW: ALICE VO
