Welcome Conferences At August registration, sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teacher before school begins. Please bring your child to this meeting.
What is the purpose of this conference? • Ask any specific questions or address concerns. • Drop off school supplies. • Receive school-specific and teacher-specific information such as… • snack time policies, • volunteer information, • start and end times, • daily schedules, • and contact information.
When will the conferences be held? • Welcome conferences are typically the first two days of school. • In 2014, the conferences will be held September 2nd and 3rd. • There will be no 4K classes on these days.
How do I sign my child up for the bus? Busing is available to take your child to and from 4K. Please call the bus company to arrange this: 248-3289
What information do I need when I call? • When calling the bus company, you need to know… • The pick-up address for your child each day. • (home, day-care, babysitter, relative, etc.) • The drop-off address for each day. 248-3289 Write this number down!
How will children practice bus rules? • In 2014, September 2nd is “Bus Orientation Night.” • Children will practice boarding the bus, sitting appropriately, and disembarking safely. • In the afternoon 4K program, Central-Denison also provides an older student to take them safely to their bus.
4K Family Fun Days • On early release days (the 2nd Thursday of each month), there are no regular 4K classes. • Instead, grown-ups can bring their child to school from 9:30-10:30 for family activities, including… • Family games, • Art projects, • Math and literacy activities, • and Kindergarten readiness.
What will my child learn in 4K? • In 4K we will learn… • To write our names. • The letters of the alphabet. • Numbers and counting. • Colors and shapes. • To be the best we can be.
What does a typical day in 4K look like? • Our 4K program includes… • Calendar Math • Interactive Read-Aloud • Learning Centers • Snack Time • Whole Group Activities • Technology Integration • And so much more!
How does snack time work? You will be asked to provide a snack for the entire class two to three times per quarter. For $10/yr., milk is provided.
What if my child is sick? • Do not send your child to school if they have a fever, or have vomited or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours. • Call the school office to report the absence. • Central-Denison: • 348-4000 • Star-Center: • 348-7000
What can I do to get my child ready? • Read with your child. • Read fiction, nonfiction, counting, letter and rhyming books daily. • Write with your child. • Have your child try writing his/her name in sand, shaving cream, and with writing utensils. (Use a capital letter followed by lowercase letters.) • Count with your child. • Count animals, flowers, napkins, anything! • Play with your child. • Demonstrate how to interact appropriately.
