Fueling H2 City Kyle Rinda Alyson Bonk Kevin Cannon Scott Petro
Our City • Middletown, OH (pop. 48,694)
Means of Acquiring H2 • Delivered via pipeline from central processing plant • We will be using landfill gas to extract the hydrogen • Landfill gas is very sustainable
Flow Chart H2 H2 Source 350 Bar Compressor 350 Bar Storage Dispenser 700 Bar Compressor Cooling Block Chiller 700 Bar Storage Dispenser
Flow Chart HCNG NG Source 250 Bar Compressor CNG Storage H2 Source HCNG Blend System HCNG Dispenser
Station Design • Features: • 6 350 Bar H2 Dispensers • 1 700 Bar H2 Dispensers • 2 HCNG Dispensers • Convenience Mart • Solar Panels on top of the canopies and convenience mart • Our plan is to begin by building 3 fueling stations with the intent of creating a large scale industry
Cost Estimate • Per Station cost = $33,159,686 • Total cost (3 stations) = $99 million
Environmental Considerations • Energy Consumption • Each station needs ~320,000 kwh/day • 1,529,109 kwh available via biogas from landfill • 4.78 stations/day MAX • 3 stations by taking into account degree of safety • Solar panels installed at station • 316.8 kwh/day • Enough to power the convenience store and possibly even the whole station • By using “green” energy sources such as this, we will significantly decrease the carbon footprint on the earth
Conclusion • Cost efficient • Renewable source of H2 • Station easily replicated • Meets city-wide demand • Self-sustaining • Environmentally Friendly Thank you for your time and attention!
