The Born of A documentary Production.
E N D
At the first day I came to UK, I was invited to a Christian party which provided Chinese food to welcome fresh Chinese here. Their hospitalities and beautiful smile moved me and I decided to join the fellowship activity which is also out of curiosity. After I got know each people well in the fellowship, I found out they have one thing in common that most of them believed in God after they had been moved to UK.
261MC Documentary Production • Ken Fero • A 5 minutes short documentary • Victim of Capitalism or Outsiders • Not that familiar with people in UK • We came to the idea of making documentary about these Chinese Christians • How did they became a Christian? How do they feel now?
Find a character who has Conflict. • We were refused TWICE. • Professor Gao. As he is a Communist party member, it’s quite understandable of his action because he is afraid that he may be affected by the documentary once the production is published. • Doctor Ding. She emailed us noticing that she couldn’t be filming because of family problem. Her husband is a Buddhist.
Finally find a character • Chen Rong • Learning for his Ph.D in Chemistry in Warwick University • We got a lot of footage in 4 times shooting although we couldn’t use all in the final production.

Reflection • The most important lesson we got from the twist and turns is how to conquer difficulties in a foreign country with strangers and unfamiliar situations. • How to communicate with characters and how to get their permissions. • We learnt sometime we have to make concession because of different environment. Nothing can be perfect, but we have to give our best shot. • C’est La Vie.
