  2. What is Karate • Karate can also be described as a martial art, or fighting method, involving a variety of techniques, including blocks, strikes and throws. Karate practice is divided into three aspects: kihon (basics), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring). • The word karate is a combination of two Japanese characters: kara, meaning empty, and te, meaning hand; thus, karate means "empty hand." Adding the suffix "-do" (pronounced "doe"), meaning "way," i.e., karate-do, implies karate as a total way of life that goes well beyond the self-defense applications. In traditional karate-do, we always keep in mind that the true opponent is oneself.

  3. karate movies • Karate is a martial art that has been practiced and refined over a long period of time. Karate originates from japan and is now a art that many people learn today. • Karate is very famous for there movies popular movies such as : • The Karate Kid Movies • Enter the Dragon • The ledged of the drunken master

  4. Equipment • Karate is an open handed martial art so there is no need for tools to learn this art. • Although when training we use • Mats • Mits&Pads • Mouthgaurd

  5. How to do • Karate classes are held in a dojo and are instructed by the kancho (founder) , shihan (teacher), sempi (black belt /younger helper). At each karate class we always begin by bowing to show respect . To start the class we always do some warming up exercises such as running on the spot, stretching & doing the splits ect. After the warm ups we would do as the instructor has planned either if its kumite (fighting) , kata(form) or just running over the basics. At the end of the class all students must return to were they started the class to end the class with a bow as they did at the start of the class.

  6. Uniform • All students wear a white gii which is similar to a shirt • During summer it is opinal to wear the schools T-Shirt with the pants but it is preferd to wear the gii . • Along with the gii we wear white pants. • And of course your belt • We do the class bare footed .
