I will use BOTH microscopes AND diagrams to test you on epithelial tissues. Make sure you look at the microscopes in lab and the diagrams in this presentation.
Make sure you know all the pieces of information listed in your lab packets! Also know the locations of ALL tissues!
Loose Connective Tissue: Areolar TissueFind: matrix/ground substance, collagen fibers, elastic fibers, nuclei of cells
Loose Connective Tissue: Adipose TissueFind: adipocyte, lipid droplet, nucleus of an adipocyte
Dense Connective Tissue: Dense Regular CTFind: collagen fibers, nuclei of fibroblasts
Dense Connective Tissue: Dense Irregular CTFind: collagen fibers, nuclei of fibroblasts
Supportive Conective Tissue: Hyaline Cartilage(Smooth and Clean Matrix!) LACUNA CHONDROCYTE
Supportive Connective Tissue: Elastic Cartilage (Dirty Matrix!) ELASTIC FIBERS IN MATRIX CHONDROCYTE LACUNA
Supportive Connective Tissue: Fibrocartilage or Fibrous Cartilage (Matrix looks like water, lacuna with chondrocytes look like boats) LACUNA CHONDROCYTE
Dense Regular Connective Tissue Where in the body can you find this?
Dense Irregular Connective Tissue Where in the body can you find this tissue?
Elastic cartilage What is the name of the “holes”? What are the names of the cells found inside these holes?
Fibrocartilage or Fibrous Cartilage Where in the body can you find this tissue?
Adipose Tissue Where is the nucleus of the adipocytes? What is filling most of the inside of the adipocyte? Where in the body can you find this tissue?
Hyaline Cartilage Where in the body can you find this tissue?
Loose Connective Tissue - Areolarnote the collagen fiber at the pointer and the black elastic fibers. Also note the nuclei of cells.
Loose Connective Tissue – AdiposeNote: Adipocytes, Lipid Droplets, Nuclei of Adipocytes
Dense Regular Connective TissueNote: collagen fibers, nuclei of fibroblasts
Dense Connective Tissue – Dense IrregularNote: collagen fibers, nuclei of fibroblasts
Supportive Connective Tissue – Hyaline Cartilagenote the lacuna with a chondrocyte to the right of the pointer
