Educational Administration • centralized under the Ministry of National Education • MoNE responsible for: • drawing up curricula, • coordinating the work of official, private and voluntary organizations, • designing and building schools, • developing educational materials and so on.
Financing Education • Public education is supported from the central government, • Primary education is also supported locally, mainly for the construction and maintenance of schools. • About 10 % of the general budget is allocated for education.
Pre-school Education • Optional • Pre- primary schools and pre-primary classes in primary schools • Adjunct to the public education system rather than being an integral part of it
Primary Education • compulsory for every child as soon as they reach the age of six. • compulsory schooling for both boys and girls, • In public schools: free • 99 % of the children in this age group attend schools

Teacher Training • Primary, middle and secondary school teachers are required to complete a four-year university program and obtain a Bachelor Degree. • Technical and vocational secondary school teachers undertake a four-year technical education program at a university faculty of technical education leading to the Bachelor Degree.
