System Design Phase Approval Status • SEMP submitted to the Observatory Directors on 9/29/06 for approval • Official response not yet received (has been requested) • Major issue is how many $ can be made available in FY07 • Direction from WMKO management to proceed while decision is being made • Statements of work complete for COO & UCO & purchase requisitions about to be issued with limited initial funding

System Design Phase Tracking • Tracked (Excel) version of the plan posted at http://www.oir.caltech.edu/twiki_oir/pub/Keck/NGAO/SystemDesignPhasePlanning/NGAO_SD_schedule_v20_tracked.xls • Excel version highlights what’s complete, what’s late, what’s due within next month & status of work scope planning sheets.

Work Scope Planning & Approval • Simplified template posted at http://www.oir.caltech.edu/twiki_oir/bin/view.cgi/Keck/NGAO/NGAOTemplates • To be prepared by WBS element lead & approved prior to performing significant work on a WBS element • Approvals & document control by WBSx.x lead & Wizinowich • We will endeavor to provide approvals within 5 working days of submittal • List of all WBS elements requiring a scope planning sheet can be found at: http://www.oir.caltech.edu/twiki_oir/bin/view.cgi/Keck/NGAO/WorkProducts • Table also provides a location for posting the planning sheets & deliverables • Draft planning sheets posted for many items (includes WBS number, name, dictionary definition & effort estimate from SEMP) • Planning sheet status • Posted for WBS 2.2, 3.1.1.1.1 & 3.1.1.5 • Approved for WBS 3.1.2.1.1, 3.1.2.2.13 & 3.1.2.3.3. • REMINDER to fill out these planning sheets!

Upcoming Meetings & Milestones • Meeting #4 is Jan. 22 at Keck HQ • http://www.oir.caltech.edu/twiki_oir/bin/view.cgi/Keck/NGAO/070122_NGAO_Meeting_4 • Will need % complete for WBS elements prior to meeting (also to be used for SSC report) • SSC meeting Jan. 24 at Keck HQ • 1st project report to SSC & Observatory management • Will need a good estimate of project completion versus costs to date • Milestones: • SEMP approval was due 10/9 (verbal ok only) • SD phase contracts in place was due 10/27 • Science requirements summary v1.0 was due 10/27 • System requirements document v1.0 was due 12/8 We need to show all of these milestones as complete at SSC meeting!
