  4. What does the EU funding cover? Personnel Costs Additional Costs – varies by Action For Example: Research/Training/Networking Costs €800 to €1800 per month per researcher Overheads ~ 10% of direct costs Management Costs ~ 10% of total Small equipment expenses for SMEs Max. 10% of total contribution to SME • Living Allowance* • Students €38k p.a. • Researchers €58k p.a. • Researchers with > 10 years experience €87.5k p.a. • Mobility & Travel Allowance* • €700 per month or • €1000 per month Industry does not have to put up any co- or match-funding. *Correction Coefficients apply; IE = 109.1

ITN: Initial Training Networks Aim: Improve Quality of Doctoral Training • Promote industry-academia collaboration in PhD training Three Types of ITN • Multi-Partner ITN (ITN) • Innovative Doctoral Programmes (IDP) • European Industrial Doctorates (EID)* Facts and Figures • Next Deadline, November 2012 (t.b.c.) • Budget 450 M€ (30 M€ for EID) • Typical Project Budget 3 – 5 M€ (0.5 M€ for EID) • Project Duration 4 years * EID is best option for companies • Recruitment of Doctoral Students (3 to 5 students) • Joint Research Training Programme • Compulsory Inter-Sectoral Secondment (50%) Academic Partner in one MS/AC Industry Partner in another MS/AC + Optional: Additional Participants from anywhere in the world
