MTH 111 – Algebra for College Students: Old Format • 5 minute Homework quiz • Review of other homework • I work problems they ask me to. • Lecture over new material • I write definitions and theorems on board. • I work example problems for them. • I am the hardest working person in the class! MTH 111 – Algebra for College Students: New Format • Most work done in teams of five • 15 minute homework and reading quiz • Students read definitions and theorems • Teams go over homework themselves • I work a few examples on the board • Students work more examples in teams • Students are the hardest working people in the class! MTH 111 – Algebra for College Students: Modeling Example • Let’s do this! • Graph Data Points • Draw a smooth curve through them • What does your graph predict the final bid to be? • Do other algebra to create function for that curve, and use it to predict final bid.
