Information about Painting • Title: View of Toledo • Artist: ElGreco • Date of Composition: 1596 - 1600 • Artistic Era: Baroque
Why I chose this painting I am someone that really does not like art a whole lot, but this painting really engrossed me. I love how it portrays an amazing scene in just a few colors. It is also really neat how the castle moves up and down the hillside in View Of Toledo. As soon as I saw the painting, I knew this was one of the paintings that inspired me.
Information about painting • Title: Coffee grinder • Artist: Juan Gris • Date of Composition: 1920 • Artistic Era: Surrealism/Cubism
Why I chose this painting I am always taken aback that little objects crammed into a piece of canvas could be considered art. After seeing this painting, I can see why. One can see the different componentsof a coffee grinder and it looks as if it was inserted one block at a time. Because of the simplicity of Juan Gris’s painting, it is a painting that inspires me.
Information about Painting • Title: A wedding in 1830 • Artist: José Gutiérrez de la Vega • Date of Composition: 1830 • Artistic Era: Romanticism
Why I chose this painting I chose this painting by José Gutiérrez because it shows that the Spanish culture is sometimes similar to the American culture. It shows that because this wedding is very near what an American wedding looked like. I find it fascinating some of the same things happen thousands of miles away. A Wedding In 1830 inspired me when I saw it because of the similarity of the American and Spanish wedding culture.
