‘Primary’ and ‘Secondary’ resistance • Primary, 1880s-1890s: defensive, existing elites, secular. • Secondary: Offensive, ‘new’ men, religious dimensions.
Accommodation Paradigm • Counters resistance/collaboration. • Based on notions of agency. • Explores non-violent forms of resistance. • Seeks a ‘holistic’ view of colonial society
