3. 2014 Candidates and Referendums • City Clerk is the qualifying officer for all City candidates • Section 99.097, Fla. Stats., provides the Supervisor of Elections to verify all petitions (candidates and referendums)

4. Proposed Polling Locations • In 2011 City had 6 mass polling locations with EVID’s. • Option for 2014 -1 polling location for all City voters to ensure one vote per voter

5. Advertising • Newspaper, Website, and Newsletters • §100.021, Fla. Stats. Notice of General Election-not a mandate for a municipality but will comply • During 30 days prior to qualifying 2 notices in newspaper

6. Requirements of the SOE • Verify petitions § 99.095(3). Fla. Stats. • Provide register rolls §101.002 • Including those who have requested an absentee ballot

7. Ballots • Early • Absentee • Election day • Provisional • Cost per election ~$17,000 printing only • Absentee ballots require additional supplies such as a secrecy sleeve, envelopes, and postage

8. Poll Workers • Clerks, equipment managers, ballot managers, assistants, deputies, and inspectors fall under the general category of poll workers. • Poll worker training is estimated at $2,250 per day.

9. Early Voting • Council’s option to conduct early voting-Section 101.657 (1)(e) • Must designate each location no later than the 30th day prior to an election • Early voting shall begin on the 10th day before an election ending on the 3rd day before the election • Shall be no less than 8 hours and no more than 12 hours per day at each site • Sites-locations provided by statute

10. Security Measures • Polls are open to voters from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. • Early voting hours differ but shall be no less than 8 hours and no more than 12 hours per day at each site. • Security – Deputyper §102.031(2) at main entrance to polling room; • §101.24-sealed ballot boxat each precinct.

11. Canvassing Board • Council to designate Canvassing Board in Election Procedures Ordinance • Canvassing of ballots will be at close of polls at 7:00 p.m.
