Measurement HFSS™ Adaptive Wireless Systems Dept. of Electronic Eng. Cork Institute of Technology aws@cit.ie How shielding works Introduction: Used to provide electromagnetic shielded environment for RF/Microwave measurements to be conducted without unwanted interference. RF Measurement Laboratory Why? 1) Exclude unwanted electromagnetic radiation or signals in order to allow sensitive electrical measurements to be carried out. 2) To contain radiating signals which can disrupt neighbouring equipment. Reflecting &Absorbing radiation Shielding reduces signals to levels where they no longer interfere with measurements or cannot be received. Software RF Measurement Equipment • HP VEE Pro 6 • - Data acquisition • Designer • RF circuit simulator • HSPICE • -Mixed signal Circuit Simulator • Ensemble • - 2.5D EM simulator • HFSS • - 3D EM simulator • Agilent 8714ES Vector Network Analyser • Agilent 86100 Infinium Wideband Oscilloscope • Time Domain Reflectometry Module • Anritsu Spectrum Analyser • Agilent ESG Signal Generator Applications • Characterisation of various IC packages and interconnects. • The design of an ultra wideband transceiver. • Miniaturisation of transceivers. • Creation of IBIS models.
