Driver testing • Educational standards must be sufficient to ensure adequate comprehension of regulations and instructions relevant to the task involved. A simple literacy and innumeracy test will be applied. • Maturity of outlook coupled with a responsible attitude must be evident. • Physical fitness must be of a satisfactory standard and have been assessed by a qualified medical practitioner. The medical examination shall include tests to establish adequate optical and aural standards and be designed to detect any physical disabilities which would detract from a driver’s ability to carry out the driving functions. • Continued satisfactory physical fitness which shall be assessed by periodic medical examinations. • Current driving ability with the type of vehicle to which a driver is to be assigned must be proved. An assessment drive must be completed with an approved driver trainer prior to employment.
