20. Global Glass News Ukraine Vetropack. resumes manufacture of Vetropack starts up furnaces in its new Italian factory. Vetropack, the glass manufacturer, has commenced the heat-up process for its two melting furnaces at the new Boffalora sopra Ticino plant in Italy. Following a construction period of 18 months, the furnaces will gradually reach operating temperature and be filled over several days in preparation for production. The modernized facility, set to be inaugurated in October 2023, will increase glass production by up to 70% while ensuring flexibility and sustainability. With a significant investment of over CHF 400 million, Vetropack aims to meet the growing demand and elevated qualitystandardsin the Italianmarket. Vetropack, the glass manufacturer, is cautiously restarting production at its Gostomel plant in Ukraine. After over a year-long halt due to severe damage caused by a Russian military attack in February 2022, the company has begun heating up one of the remaining furnaces. Production of white glass for food and drinks, driven by high demand, will resume in June. Saint-Gobain energyin India. engages in renewable Saint-Gobain has partnered with Vibrant Energy1 in India to sign a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Starting in 2024, the agreement will provide renewable wind-solar electricity to six Saint-Gobain sites. The project is partly funded by the Government's Transformation Fund (IETF), aligning with Ardagh Group's Sustainability Strategy for a 23% reduction in NOx emissionsintensity by 2030.
