Implications of EFIT accuracy on Divertor probe data S. Jachmich Task-Force E-meeting 25/02/04
Comparison of two identical pulses: • 2 Problems: • ITOT and OTOT larger in recent pulse • sudden jump(s) of signal 53080 and 58718 Particle flux inn. divertor KY4D/ITOT Particle flux out. divertor KY4D/OTOT Neutral beam power Gas-puff
B Divertor Tile Probe Pin R,Z Z,R How is particle flux to divertor target surface determined?: • measure ion saturation current of individual probe k q
Ion saturation and electron density is not affected: a = probe angle = 11-13 deg.
S. Jachmich, TFE-meeting 20/02/04 Effect of XLOC and EFIT reconstr. on angles: old pulse with XLOC (q=1.3 deg) new pulse with EFIT (q = 2.4 deg) => Jsurf by a factor of 2-3 larger!!
S. Jachmich, TFE-meeting 20/02/04 EFIT reconstruction fails sometimes: • no X-point reconstructed • local magnetic field line angles increase from 2 deg to 10 deg
S. Jachmich, TFE-meeting 20/02/04 Summary: • meas. of particle fluxes to surface are very sensitive to quality of reconstruction • XLOC-angles have become unvailable from C5 on (after Feb. 2002) • all pulses before 54346 have been done with XLOC • (=> ITOT,OTOT systematically smaller) • comparison of pulses still possible by reprocessing the pulses • and using EFIT solely
