Contents: Short introduction to subject. Series of student discourses on current topics in the field of short-range communication technologies. Evaluation of discourses. Practical arrangements The Seminar on Wireless Future (SWF2009) will provide a forum for the students to practice preparing and presenting a paper in a scientific or engineering conference. The students will prepare an abstract and a manuscript on a selected subject related to the wireless and ubiquitous technologies and present it on the agreed date. In addition they will act as an opponent of one presentation. A written self-evaluation and opponent’s advisory evaluation will accomplish the seminar. The manuscript may be a review or a survey or presentation of original (own) r&d results on areas like • Ubiquitous architectures, systems and applications • Wearable computing and personal area networks • Security and privacy in sensor networks and ubiquitous systems • Security and privacy in RFID T863403 Jyrki Laitinen

Practical arrangements • The performance of the course consists of the following steps: • Selection of the topic of the presentation. The topic must be approved by the instructor. Deadline: 8 March 2009. • Preparation of a one-page abstract in specific format given by the instructor. Deadline: 22 March 2009. • Preparation of a four-page manuscript in specific format given by the instructor. The manuscript is sent by email to the instructor (jyrki.laitinen@oamk.fi). Deadline: 17 April 2009. • Presentation (20 + 10 min) in a seminar. Deadline: 27 Apr and 4 May. • Acting as an opponent in a seminar. Deadline: 27 Apr and 4 May. • Written self-evaluation (half-page) and opponent’s advisory opinion (half-page) with good reasons. Deadline: 8 May 2009. T863403 Jyrki Laitinen
