Thesis Tips • Should limit and focus your research • Has 2 parts: Your topic and the analysis, explanation, or assertion that you wish to prove about your topic. • Is very specific • Appears at the end of your introduction • As you take notes you can adjust but not change your thesis.
Organization of a Thesis • Can start out as a question • Can compare or contrast two or more things. • Can prove or disprove a theory or idea • Can summarize information on your subject
Examples • Look at the examples on the following slides and decide which ones are • Too narrow • Too Broad • Properly Focused
Example # 1 • How are new sports added to the Olympics? • What is the history of the Olympics? • What do each of the colors in the Olympic ring symbolize?
