ROGER HOOD ANNUAL LECTURE SERIES 2013 Why Sentencing MattersProfessor Andrew AshworthIn this lecture Professor Ashworth will explore three and a half reasons why sentencing matters. He will invite the audience to think about how the relativities between types of offence can be re-assessed, about when and how much imprisonment should be used, and about the best-fitting institutional structure for re-evaluating English sentencing conventions. Roger Hood Annual Lecture Series This Annual Public Lecture, an important event in the calendar of the Centre for Criminology, honours and celebrates the long and distinguished career of Professor Hood and his particular contribution to Oxford Criminology.
