  1. Rotary Club of Gawler LightGlobal Grant Proposal Bontihing School & Community Library Bali, Indonesia

Background • Very poor and remote rural village in the north of Bali • Strong connection to the village since 2004 through Educated Smiles project sponsoring school children • Previous school library burned down in 2007 • Four local schools without library facilities – no funds to replace • Strong partnership with Rotary Club of Bali – Sanur • We decided in 2010 to try for a Global Grant to: • refurbish the building • stock with new library books • Provide computers with Internet access • The work will support the Educated Smiles Project

Global Grant • Has been difficult path as needed qualification by the Rotary Foundation Future Vision (pilot) as well as District • Inter alia, must: • Support humanitarian projects • Provide sustainable, measurable outcomes • Be sponsored by at least one local Rotary Club • Comprehensive application and management requirements • Project works to be managed by RC of Bali-Sanur • Control and Reporting through RC of Gawler Light (and partners…) • Project has been submitted to RI and we are currently responding to their review questions

Financing Overview District 9500 DDF Allocation 10,000 + $1/$1 Matching from World Fund 10,000 Rotary Club Fundraising 15,000 + 50c/$1 Matching from World Fund 7,500 Total 42,500 • The District allocation is in the bank • Will raise the 15,000 through: • Partnering with other clubs/organisations • “Bricks for Bontihing” fundraiser

Option 1: Direct Partnering Opportunity • Your Rotary Club can join us as full partners with the Global Grant • Will be included on the Grant application • Can promote this project as a part owner, ie for your own club publicity • What do you need to do? • Decide if you want to partner with us, if so … • Send funds to “Rotary Club of Gawler Light Charities Account” to be held in trust for the project • Nominate three members to represent you on the grant management committee

  7. Option 2: Buy Bricks • Buy $100 virtual "bricks“ • Donations are tax deductible through RAWCS • Our website contains: • Project information • Information on how you can make donations • A graphic on fundraising progress
