ILS ILS NCIP messaging from WCRS to libraries’ ILS WorldCat Resource Sharing ILS ILS
Direct Delivery with Remote Circ • Libraries who choose will have the option of having items delivered directly to their patrons
Remote Circulation/What will it do for me? • Streamlines workflows for patrons and librarians by: • Greatly reducing mediation required in fulfilling resource sharing requests thereby reducing fulfillment time • Offers direct delivery to patrons at their homes, offices, etc.
Remote Circulation/What will it do for me? • Leverages the investments you’ve made in both OCLC and your local system by increasing interoperability between WorldCat Resource Sharing/ILLiad and your local system
Remote Circulation– things to note • Local systems must participate in development with OCLC • OCLC will configure Remote Circ on behalf of group services groups • OCLC will create simple configurability for individual libraries
Tentative timeline for Remote Circ Project • Pilot planned to begin by June • Pilot to last 6-8 months • Service expected to begin before end of 2006 • Look for more information from OCLC in the coming months about participating ILS vendors
