EF is a project funded by EC intended for all environmental NGOs from Croatia, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo and Turkey, interested and involved in the EU enlargement process. One of its goals is to develop capacities of ENGOs to establish a constructive dialogue with national authorities and support their active role in the EU enlargement process. The project support: → information exchange on EU environmental policy and developments in the enlargement process; → consultation by DG ENV with NGOs on developments in the EU environment policy and the implications for their respective countries; → develop capacities of environmental NGOs to establish a constructive dialogue with national authorities and key stakeholders (e.g. business, academia etc.)

  3. HistoryThe project builds on the previous NGO Dialogue and New NGO Forum which were focused on the issues of information exchange and improvement in transparency between NGOs and the Commission. Role of NGOs in EF Have to act as “hubs” to appropriately consult and coordinate with other (smaller or local) NGOs in order to get a complete overview of their national environmental civil society requiring their active contribution.

  4. Criteria for NGOs 1. Organizational capacity 2. Thematic focus (i.e. MEA, EIA, SEA, Aarhus Convention, Water management, Waste, Air Quality, and IPPC) 3. Involvement in the EU enlargement process 4. Information dissemination capacity 5. Capacity to work with other stakeholders in the EU enlargement process

Croatia (Green Action/FoE Croatia, NGO Franjo Koščec) 4. Macedonia (4x4x4 Balkan Bridges, Front 21/42, Macedonian Green Center) 5. Kosovo (ATRC) 6. Montenegro (Green Home, Zeleni/Greens) 7. Serbia (CEKOR, Environmental Ambassadors, Young Researchers of Serbia) 8. Turkey (TEMA, KADOS)

  6. Activities - annual meeting in Brussels - national preparatory meetings - thematic papers for AM - website www.envforum.eu

  7. New round of EF - keeping the name - one additional national preparatory meeting - regional preparatory meeting for AM - joint development of EF work plan - capacity building of NGOs
