  3. Acrobat Pro • Version 9 end of life in June 2013 • This means no security updates • For security should be on 10 or newer • Phil will send out lists of machines with older versions

  4. What to do? • Consider whether software is still needed • Office now generates PDFs • Software installation managed instead of manual installations • Current model requires payment for each version (paper form to CHIP) • Provide list of machines to Phil

  5. Software Subscriptions • Adobe has moved to a subscription model • University has a two year agreement • E.g. IST charges a yearly fee for some research software • Move to a two-year payment model for Acrobat Pro cost recovery

  6. Transitional Issues • Current agreement up for renewal in 2014 • Computers with Acrobat 9 or older need to pay for an upgrade or remove software • New purchases will be for a two-year term, entitled to upgrades • Need to identify the in-between categories and come up with a fair approach

  7. IST Webstore • Replacement for paper form • Pilot with Acrobat Pro • Work through process with a few departments • Make sure new process is easier • Add more software and departments
