Civil Engineering Is the role as it equates for the overall safety of society in many different facets where people live ,and the design and supervise construction of buildings and infrastructure ranging from skyscrapers to water mains.
Job Description/Duties of a Civic one general responsibility of a civil engineer has to analyze various factors concerning a construction site/job during, before, and after the process or entirely. They will work on variety of projects in improving, developing, designing, and Standard Analysis on an existing problem or will be a problem in structures. They work on projects such as Storm Drainage Improvements, Cable Tray and Pipe Support System, Retaining Wall Design, etc. Responsibilities I would like are analyzing various factors during and before the process at where the construction site is going to take place. I would dislike analyzing it again several times during the process.
Personal Characteristics Needed in a Civil Engineer To be successful and happy in this discipline you would have to be a great supervisor and analyst as well as a mathematician in graphing, drafting, chemical testing applications, and using the metric system. You would have to be a critical thinker in resolving problems and have a open mind to hazards in ensuring safety to all personal during the process in the project. This career fits my personality because I'm great in Math, and a good sketch artist in designing the project where it’s going to be held at, and how it’s going to be built. Personal values important to me is checking and supervising the project if its going well made with the safety measures we're properly using. It's very interesting because there's always something challenging for civil engineers to solve.
Education Needed in Being a Civil Engineer To Become a Civil Engineer, you would need to complete a four-year bachelor's degree in a accredited program called ABET (known as Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) that's usually required for licensing; this license is required in all states. High school students should takes courses in physics, chemistry, biology, communication skills, along with classes in computer science and mathematics in order to prepare for college work. In college, as a prospective civil engineer you must take courses in mathematics, physics and statistics in covering topics over principles of design and analysis, engineering systems and fluid dynamics. You may continue training to improve your chances of advancing into management positions by earning a master's degree. Universities that could help you become a civil engineer (naming some of them) Texas A&M University, The University of Texas at Austin, Arizona State University, etc. Colleges that could help are Robert Turner High School (for earning a associates degree), and others listed in the sites provided below. http://everydaylife.globalpost.com/training-education-needed-civil-engineer-9584.html http://education-portal.com/civil_engineering_colleges.html
Work Setting The work environment for Civil Engineers are generally spent working indoors in offices, yet they mostly spend time outdoors monitoring operations, supervising, and solve problems at the construction site. You would occasionally travel abroad to work on large projects in other countries. Civil Engineers work 8-10 hours a day or more and could work a whole week, but perhaps half a Saturday. A civil engineering can be stressful (according to comments from the web) in risking, worrying, and meeting deadlines for a project. I would really dislike the stress and deadline for every project while ensuring safety measures and monitoring every risk. Wages and Benefits The entry wage for a civil engineer is starting at $52,048 per year, according to a 2009 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics survey. The benefits you have are receiving health, vision and dental insurance, along with retirement benefits, pensions or savings accounts. However, some corporations provide you/them with annual, quarterly or monthly bonus pays or other forms of financial compensation, such as stock options or profit sharing pay. The average pay for a civil engineer is $60,774 per year, yet I highly recommend for being a Civil engineering manager if possible, if not then a standard engineer. These wages and annual pays depend on what industry or corp. you’re working with, and the location the economy depends on your in. Employment Outlook In a increase of infrastructure spending and population growth, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that employment opportunities for civil engineers were expected to increase by %19 between 2010 and 2020. Categories in which civil engineers are employed are Local, State and Federal Government, Architectural, Engineering and Related Services, Oil and Gas Extraction, and Pipeline Transportation. Companies that could hire you are American Heritage, ArcadisUk, Balfour Beatty, etc. For more information please click below. http://www.ranker.com/list/civil-engineering-companies/reference
Personal Assessment This occupation will be right for me because I’m great in math, science, and I'm a really creative artistic person that could imply my skills for designing and searching solutions. It will be great working as a civil engineer to improve buildings, avoid traffic jams, and secure from buildings collapsing during natural disasters. It's very interesting to me since its challenging and creative.
