Procedure 2010 • Online Questionnaire, open from February until April • Target Group • Erasmus Mundus Students • Erasmus Mundus Alumni • Data acquisition • E-mail invitation and reminder to all EMA-members • Invitation via regional chapters • Link online available over EMA-website • Incentive: Book voucher, drawing in June
Who Took Part in the Survey so far? • Number of Participants in total (since 2007): N= 2,192 • Students: 68.5%, Graduates: 31.5% • 58.8% male, 41.2% female • Number of Participants (2010): 667 • Sample represents EMMC Students and Graduates in terms of • EU-/ non-EU-citicenship • Field of study
Who studies what? Q: Erasmus Mundus Master Course (EMMC) Students choose different courses – depending on their origin Most of the non-EU citizens study engineering & natural sciences, whereas the EU citizens prefer Humanities and Social Sciences.

Participants in 2010 The European Union: The Place to Be? Q: How do you rate the EU as a study destination? Graduates rate the study destination EU significantly more positive than students (t=-3,21, df=664, p< 0.05). This positive estimation does not differ among EU and non EU citizens.
Graduates participating in 2010 41.4% of Non-EU Citizens Stay in the EU Right After Graduation – Why? Q: What are the reasons for your decision to stay? Most (and especially engineers/natural scientists 66,7%) stay because of better job opportunities and because they like the EU working environment.

Friends for Life through Erasmus Mundus? Q: “I have made a lot of friends during EMMC who I will probably stay in touch with.” App. 25% of students find a partner during EMMC.
Q: How do you rate the integration activities? Does Erasmus Mundus Make You Feel at Home? Though the proportion of graduates who rate the integration activities as (very) good is continuously high, there is an increasing number of graduates who are dissatisfied with the integration activities.

Participants in 2010 Promoters of Erasmus Mundus Q: How did you hear about the EMMC? While EU citizens get informed by their universities, for non EU citizens internet and friends are important promoters of the EMMC.
Who Knows What Is Erasmus Mundus? Q: How well known is EM in your home country?
Erasmus Mundus – A Success Story • No doubt Erasmus Mundus is a great chance in terms of students‘ career, often fostering an academic career • Erasmus Mundus offers great opportunities to develop private and professional networks; in some courses even more than in others • Erasmus Mundus has already been extablished as a better known brand; however, there is more good news to spread!
