  2. Early Life • Charles Tupper was a Physician, and owned a Pharmacy in Nova Scotia. • He was married to Frances Morse and had 6 children.

Rise to power • Won seat in house of commons in 1867. • Spent 4 years in opposition • Became high commissioner of the United Kingdom. • Was a delegate in the conferences leading to confederation, convinced Nova Scotia to join. • Once William Lyon Mackenzie failed with Manitoba schools question Tupper was brought in

Accomplishments/ Failures Accomplishments • Sir Charles Tupper was a delegate in the conferences leading to confederation. • Helped oversee the railroad construction • United the split up conservative’s from the Manitoba schools question. Failures • Did not get a facing with parliament while PM • did not answer Manitoba’s school question • Lost election to Laurier

  5. End of Run • Tupper lost the election to Laurier after 69 days of being Prime Minister. • Has the shortest time being Prime Minster.

  6. Impact • Charles Tupper helped create confederation for Canada • Helped the construction of the railway. • Had no impact in parliament since he never had a facing with parliament.
