  3. SCENARIOS • Mostly, we can live with the errors that occur within our operating environment. We can restart, work around the problem, or even stop awhile. Unfortunately these responses are not always acceptable for the following reasons: • The failure endangers human lives. • The failure causes great economic damage. • The inability of the operators to carry out their tasks would be socially irresponsible. SCENARIOS • The distinguished feauture of this type of operating environments is that their operating mission is the reason why the relevant (human) operating organization was created for. • Failure within this type of operating environments is unacceptable. MULTIPLE TECHNOLOGY • Backbone: based on Optical Fibre, Radio Links, WiMAX PMP and Satellite technologies • Access: via TETRA, GSM-R, Analogue Simulcast/Conventional, LAN, WiMAX, WiFi, and Satellite technologies, with extensions to sensor networks, and meshed and ad-hoc networks. • Gateway: to public networks (PSTN, GSM, UMTS, Internet), private networks (VPN) and special communication systems The new frontier of the TETRA access network

MULTIPLE TECHNOLOGY • Future integrated systems’ network access will be available via TETRA solution, analogue trunked solution, 2G and 3G solutions, WiMAX, LAN and Satellite to guarantee the use of the most suitable information highway to satisfy specific operation requirements, while gateway to public networks (PSTN, Mobile, Internet), private networks (VPN) and special communication systems is managed at their distributed network center level. DISTRIBUTED CONVERGENCE • Control, management and command/decision’s head of the new frontier’s integrated systems for professional and emergency organizations are based on a distributed-intelligence(resilient) approach where operation decision makers at different level communicate with individuals, groups and all network users remotely manage and control equipment, vehicles and sensors (position, alarms) regardless of the type of communication technology utilized, including hub to both external public and private networks and to their own networks and renders them interoperable and able to communicate with each other.
