College Testing 101 • SAT vs. ACT • Most four-year colleges require SAT or ACT • SAT: math, reading, and writing (including an essay) • ACT: English, math, reading and science (and optional essay) • SAT Subject Tests • Hour-long, content-based tests in 20 specific subject areas • Required or recommended by some colleges for admission or placement • Can enhance an application

After acceptance – then what? • May 1 – Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) • Provide deposit • No double deposits!! One school ONLY! • Housing – may need to apply early • Wait List – let schools know you are interested • Appeals – new compelling information

Close Up – Washington, DC Cost of trip: $1837 Dates of trip: January 17 – 23, 2015. First Step: Have your daughter give Mrs. Vogler the parent agreement form which has been emailed to all Senior parents and students. Second Step: Go online, use the password and ID given to you by Mrs. Vogler to enroll your daughter and make initial payment of $400. October 10 - $400 is due. Nov. 25 - the final payment of $1437 is due.
