  2. What is Yelp? Our group was familiar with Yelp before this project, but we were uncertain as to how much of an impact Yelp could have on a business. This presentation uncovers how Yelp works and how it can benefit or harm a company. • So what exactly is Yelp and how does it impact businesses…?

  3. Impact of Yelp • How businesses/professionals connect using Yelp • Helps them establish a presence in the market • Assists with customer awareness • Ratings • Reviews • Allows them to advertise • Provides them with a behind the scenes dashboard

  4. Potential Benefits and Dangers • Dangers: • Fake reviews by competitors are a real thing • Negative reviews can hurt your bottom line • The system that filters reviews to display can be difficult to understand • Some believe the spam filter is biased depending on whether a company pays to advertise on Yelp or not • Benefits: • Yelp is convincing people where to spend money • Instant feedback from customers via smartphone. • Businesses can advertise on the site as well. • The average increase in annual revenue for small businesses with a yelp account in 2013 was 8,000 and 23,000 with small businesses who advertised on Yelp

  5. Yelp Tips and Best Practices • In case of a negative review… • Always be professional and respond diplomatically. • Fill out your business’s profile completely. • Add pictures, post hours, address, website, link to menu, etc. • Stay involved with your following on Yelp. • Make announcements and offers regularly on Yelp. • Don’t blatantly ask your favorite customers for Yelp reviews. • Most people will notice all the perfect & biased reviews, hurting your credibility. • Display a Yelp sticker on your front door!

  6. Download the app or visit www.Yelp.com • How YOU can begin to benefit by using Yelp! For Customers For Businesses Find your business, claim it, and create your profile!
