Devise architecture to be used for communication to enable post-earthquake evacuation strategy design We have merged our MSC Research topics to create a research proposal topic that satisfies both of our objectives (Location based services for low end mobile device and Android based application for quick visualization). • UN Mission : Humanitarian Relief in case of Disasters (MINUSTAH mission) • Disaster Type : Earthquake • Mission SubType : Post earthquake evacuation strategy design
How it works • The Relief Agency requests the mobile service providers to broadcast messages for evacuation in the earthquake struck region. The agency provides the service providers with maps of the region divided into zones. • The mobile service providers communicate with the mobile devices in the disaster struck region through USSD protocol and send simple messages saying do you need evacuation help and reply with Yes or No. • The end users( people who need to be evacuated) reply back to the service providers through the same protocol . The Mobile service providers send the location co-ordinates or the zone information to the relief agencies. • The relief agencies analyze, organize and communicate the information to the relief worker. • The relief worker overlays the co-ordinates on the map of the region through android application and plans evacuation strategy along with other relief workers
