  2. BORING SPONGE Axinyssaambrosia(De Laubenfels, 1936) Kingdom AnimaliaPhylum PoriferaGenus AxinyssaSpecies Axinyssa ambrosia Description:Massive-amorphous with lobate protuberances. The surface is smooth, from finely to more obviously conulose; fleshy. Consistency hard but compressible.Color:Cream to yellow.Habitat:Found at depths of 10 to 176 m; common in deeper areas of reefs.Distribution:Widespread in the Caribbean.
