  2. Alliteration & Assonance • Poets, authors, and song writers use these as tools. • Educated people recognize and appreciate these. • These have to do with repeating word sounds.

  3. Alliteration • Repetition of initial consonant sound. • A consonant is not a vowel. Example Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.

  21. What’s the difference between assonance and internal rhyme? • Assonance doesn’t have to rhyme. It just has to have repeated vowel sounds. • Example: • He received threeemails today

  22. Internal rhyme must RHYME (vowel sounds and consonant sounds combined!) • Hint: internal rhyme almost always also uses assonance • Do you like blue?
