Lesson 8 E-mail
All writing has a beginning, a middle, and an ending. • This is true for letters as well as expository writing and stories. • Read passage. • In this passage, Jack decides e-mail is a good way to communicate, but the author does not explain how to write a good e-mail.
The graphic organizer shows the parts of an e-mail that Jack might send to Jill.
Read the e-mail. • People often read e-mails very quickly, so it is important for an e-mail to be very clearly organized. • The address and subject are typed into designated places on the electronic e-mail form.
Complete the graphic organizer. Dear Mrs. Taw: I saw your ad on the Internet. It said that you were offering a big discount to schools that buy computers from your store. Our school library needs new computers. Could you tell me what kinds? how much for more than one? I would appreciate information you can send me. Sincerely, Fernando Ortiz
