A7 Community Engagement • AFRC has led the AF in the accomplishment of Installation Complex Encroachment Management Action Plans (ICEMAPs) to equip installation commanders with tools to more effectively engage with communities in defining mutually beneficial development opportunities (five of nine AFRC installations accomplished). • For the first time in its history AFRC has funded full-time Community Planners at its Headquarters and four of five main operating bases, with the fifth base proposed for funding next year. This gives the installation commander a certified strategic planner to assist in both on-base development and partnering with local officials. • AFRC has partnered with local governments to complete Joint Land Use Studies at three of its installations and supported JLUSs at 24 additional operating locations. These studies have resulted in the enactment of mutually beneficial zoning criteria around several of these installations.
A7 Community Engagement (Cont) • Mutual Aid agreements between community and base fire departments. • Joint WMD and Natural Disaster Exercises and real-world support • Explosive Ordnance Disposal support to civil authorities who encounter military ordnance • We are involved in several Enhanced Use Lease (EUL) opportunities at Reserve bases which would benefits both the Air Force and the local communities. • Developing several renewable Energy programs that would allow local communities to benefit from the renewable energy credits and lower the demand on local utilities.
