Aftermath • Main French army leaves the field for Bouganville • Sept 18- the city surrenders to the British • With winter coming the British fleet moves out of the St Lawrence • Second battle fought… Battle of Sainte-Foy (now Laval University site) • British forces from Quebec City under Sir James Murray are defeated • However the French are unable to retake Quebec City before a British fleet arrived in mid-May • With the French fleet destroyed on Sept 8th, 1760 the French army in New France surrenders to the British
