What are subject pronouns? • Pronouns can take the place of nouns. • Nouns are people, animals, places, or things • A subject pronoun will serve as the main actor of a sentence. • Remember we use subject pronouns all the time in English. • In Spanish, howeversubject pronouns are only use for emphasis or clarity
Singular pronounsthey represent one person First personsingular Second personsingular, use to addresses a friend or peer Third personsingular Usted “you” for addressing a stranger or someone whose title you see or someone older than you.
Plural pronounsthey represent more than one person “you all” vosotros /vosotras In Spain is the familiar plural form used when addressing friends. In all other areas of the Spanish speaking world, ustedes (Uds.) is used to mean you all, whether speaking to friends or strangers, to men or to women.
