  2. Using PowerPoint

  3. Bulleted Lists • This is an example of a bulleted list • Every line has a number or bullet • To create a bulleted list go to format • Bullets and numbering • Then select the style of bullet or numbering • If you apply it in slide master it will add it to all slides. • To get slide master go to view, master, slide master.

  4. Adding new slides • You add new slides for every new topic. • If you have the “standard” toolbar click the picture of a computer with the plus symbol • If you do not go to insert, new slide

  5. Background • First go to format slide design • Then select the desired design. • I changed the background of this slide • There are many different designs.

  6. Text • To add text click on a text box and type in the text • If you do not have a text box • Go to insert, text box • Or on the drawing toolbar click the symbol with an a and a line next to it.

  7. Pictures • Navigate to the desired slide • Go to insert • Scroll down to picture • Select from file or clip art gallery • Navigate to picture • Double click • Format the picture(resize, move, crop, ext.)

  8. Sounds • Navigate to the desired slide • Go to insert • Scroll down to sound • Select from file or clip art gallery • Navigate to sound • Double click • Format the sound (move, resize symbol) • *****hint move sound to side of slide when formatting presentation*****

  9. Transition • Transition is the animation between slides • Navigate to the desired slide • Click slideshow • Scroll to slide transition • Find the transition you would like to have and select it • Set transition timing and to start automatically or on mouse click

Linking to a Webpage • Navigate to the desired slide • Highlight the text you want as your link • Go to insert • Scroll down to hyperlink and click • Where it says “link to” put the website address or copy and paste it • When you go into the show double click on the link and it should take you to the webpage.

  11. Linking to Another Slide • Navigate to the desired slide • Highlight the text you want as your link • Go to insert • Scroll down to hyperlink and click • Click document and select document then go to slide titles and select the slide

  12. Videos • Navigate to the desired slide • Go to insert • Scroll down to video • Select from file or clip art gallery • Navigate to video • Double click • Format the video(resize, move, etc.)

  13. Adding Animation • Navigate to the desired slide • Click slideshow • Scroll to custom animation • On the top chose the text to be animated • Click add effect • Select the desired effect

  14. Creating Customized Backgrounds (like this one) • Click format • Scroll to slide background • Click the arrows below the color bar • Select fill effects • Select texture and change colors • Click apply to apply it to only the slide your on or apply to all to add it to all slides

  15. Narration • Navigate to the desired slide • Click slideshow • Click record narration • Click the set microphone level to test microphone • Click ok • Click on record on current slide • Begin narrating • To end the narration hit the escape button

  16. Run on Mouse Click • Click slide show • Click set up show • Click on presented by speaker in show type area • Click on manually in the advance slide area • Click ok

  17. Continuous Loop • Click slide show • Click set up show • Click on presented by speaker in show type area • Click on loop continuously until escape in show options area • Click on use timing if present in advanced slide area • Click ok

  18. Word Art!!!! • Click view • Scroll down to toolbars • Click drawing • Click on the blue “A” on the toolbar • Click on the style you like • Type in the text • Click ok • And then format the word art (move,resize, etc.)

  19. Printing a Slide Show Presentation • Click file • Scroll down to page setup • Select the slide size • Then set the slide orientation (portrait or landscape)

  20. Printing a Presentation • Click file • Scroll down to print • Select the printer • Select the number of slide per page • we recommend 2 to 4 slide per page** • Select the number of copies • Indicate whether to print hidden slides

  22. What is DSV.? • Discovery streaming video is: • Free • A video resource library • Has searching capability • Has educational videos • Has videos for any subject • With discovery streaming you get: • A username and password • Downloadable videos

  23. What is DSV.? (cont.) • With discovery streaming video you can: • Use just a clip of a video • Decide not to download • And watch the movie online

  24. How do I Access DSV.? • Go to www.cliu.org • Click educational technologies • Click log in • See Mrs. Morgan to get the pass code • Make your own account

  25. Searching • Ways to search: • By subject • By grade • By content • By grade • By key word • By curriculum standards

  26. Streaming a Video • Click the “play” button to view the video • Also known as “streaming” • You can also preview the segments of the video by clicking the title

  27. Downloading a Video • Make a folder on your desktop to download to • Click the computer button to start downloading • Save the video to the folder you made on your desktop

  28. Extra Information • You can watch the video in segments • Site has information for a works cited • All videos are rated • Has related material such as teachers guides and quizzes
