Cooperative Education Program Purpose This program is the cooperation between company and university “Academic Excellence Via On-the-job Experience”. The objective is to provide the student with the opportunities and working experiences in the realistic environment under the guidance of expertise in the factory and teacher in the university. The student will apply theoretical knowledge and develop technical skills together with the assigned mentors in order to gain more understanding in the Cooperative Education program. 3

Panel Discussion Objectives: • To understand the training expectations from university, student and factory. • To tailor the internship curriculum to meet specific needs. Procedure: • Discuss on the objectives and training expectations before starting and during the program among teacher, student and assigned mentor. • Customize the internship training curriculum and academic education in relevant to the factory needs. Expected Results: • Acquire the objectives and training expectations toward the Cooperative Education Program. 2. Customize the internship training packages in relevant to objectives and training expectations. 6
Recruitment Objectives: 1. To do the targeted selection to match between the student and mentor. 2. To determine the core competencies needed for the job functions of student. Procedure: • Apply the panel interview among the various professional staff in the factory in order to put the right internship for the right job function. 2. Apply the targeted selection to identify the core competency, EQ and other aspects for further development. • Evaluate the candidate information to match with the assigned mentor. Expected Results: • Identify the assigned mentor to match with the student. • Identify the strength and weakness of student. • Tailor the individual development plan for the student. 7
Training Objectives: • To provide the internship student with the technical knowledge and skills in relevant to the industry needs. • To enhance the academic, professional and personal skills of student. Procedure: • Attend the Orientation Program to understand the company profile, company rules/regulations, job responsibilities and other necessary information. • Receive training in theory and practice with the guidance of mentor. • Receive On-the-job training related to objectives and training expectation. • Attend the Technical Competency-Based Development Program (One day per week or 16 days in 4 months). 5. Pass test/ examination of training. Expected Results: • Understand the culture of factory. • Apply the academic education to the practical work experiences. • Equip the professional and personal skills in relevant to the factory requirements. 8
Projects Assignment Objectives: • To ensure that the student applies technical knowledge and skills in the project assignments. • To collaborate the project among the student, factory and university. • To exchange the ideas and technology among the student, mentor and teacher. Procedure: • The mentor works together with student and teacher to do the project according to training objectives. • The student works on the assigned project with the coaching from mentor and teacher. Expected Results: • Apply the technical knowledge and skills to the project assignment with the guidance of mentor and teacher. • Exchange the ideas and technology among the student, mentor and teacher. 9
Projects Presentation Objectives: • To demonstrate how the student applies the academic education to the practical work. • To ensure that the student, factory and university meet the objectives and training expectations of the internship program. Procedure: • The student presents the projects assignment with the advice and coaching from the teacher and mentor. • The teacher and mentor give the technical advices and recommendations to the student. Expected Results: • Develop the communication and presentation skills of student. • Demonstrate what the student has learnt from the internship program. 10
Evaluation Objectives: • To assess the student’s performance in each skill area or core competency as applicable to his or her job responsibilities. • To evaluate the potential capability of the internship students for permanent employment. Procedure: • Assess the student’s progress in skill development according to core competency, EQ and other aspects during and at the end of the internship program. 2. Provide the job opportunity for the graduated internship student. Expected Results: • Determine the strength and weakness of student for further development. • Has ability to apply academic education with workplace practices. • Has clarity about career goals. • Receive after-graduation employment opportunities. 5. Improve after-graduation job prospects by gaining valuable work experience. 11
