  3. LTPP Program FACTS about the Long-Term Pavement Performance Program(LTPP) • 20 year program • Collects pavement performance data • Aprox. 1,914 research test sections throughout the US and Canada • Joint FHWA, State DOT, Provincial DOT cooperative program

  5. LTPP Program Original Objectives • Evaluate existing design methods. • Develop improved design methodologies and strategies for the rehabilitation of existing pavements. • Help support the develop of improved design equations for new and reconstructed pavements.

LTPP Program Objectives Continued… • Determine the effects of loading, environment, material properties and variability, construction quality, and maintenance levels on pavement distress and performance. • Determine the effects of specific design features on pavement performance. • Establish a national long-term database to support SHRP’s objectives and to meet the future needs of the highway industry.

  23. LTPP Program • In 1998, LTPP/ASCE developed and conducted the first “International LTPP Data Analysis Contest” • Main catalyst “DataPave” • Since 1998 the contest has been conducted three additional times

  24. LTPP Program Projects are evaluated based on …. • Usefulness of product and potential benefit to end users, • Originality of concept, demonstrated use of the LTPP database, • Organization of paper, and presentation (including clarity and style).
