IAQ Instruments “Good” and “Better” Offering
Plan – IAQ Products • DETAILED Training of Products!!! • 1.0 Technology • 2.0 Measurements, Calculations, Specifications • 3.0 Operation • 4.0 Features and Benefits • 5.0 Calibration • 6.0 Applications • 7.0 Pricing and Discounts • 8.0 Competition and Positioning
1.0 Technology • IAQ Products • Technology • Measurements • CO2 • Temp • Humidity • CO
CO2 Measurement • Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) • CO2 molecules absorb light at 4.26 µm • Light source on one end of sensor • IR detector on the other end • Filter eliminates all light except 4.26 µm • Intensity of light reaching detector is related to CO2 concentration • Flashing light source
CO2 Measurement • TSI/Airflow instruments measurement uses a dual detector • One at 4.26 µm for CO2 • On at a wavelength where no known gas absorbs light • The actual measurement looks at the difference • This helps with stability as the light source degrades over time
Temperature • Separate sensor from the temp compensation sensor • Why? Because the heat coming off the velocity sensor impacted the temperature reading • Platinum RTD Platinum R T
Temperature • Where is it located? • Holes allow in air • Response time somewhat slow • Probe structural issue Temperature sensor
Thermocouples • On Multi-Function instrument, there are 2 slots for Type K thermocouples • Available from TSI • Air probe • Surface probe • Any Type K thermocouple will work • Much faster response!
Thermocouples • How they work • Slightly dissimilar materials are connected to together • As temp changes, the voltage changes • Voltage is related to temp and is measured in device Graphic from www.picotech.com
Thermocouples • Standard plugs • Fast response time – small thermal mass • Some are inside enclosures • Type K (Chromel / Alumel)has a range of -200 °C to +1200 °C range • Good for many applications
Humidity Measurement • Capacitive humidity sensor • As humidity changes, it changes the capacity of the sensor • This is monitored by electronics • Raw signal is processed in instrument to get a reading of humidity • TSI applies humidity sensors in products – good understanding of calibration
Humidity Measurement • Where is the humidity sensor located? Humidity Sensor
CO Measurement • Electro-Chemical sensor • Substrate on a sensor • Changes electrical properties when CO is in contact • Degrades over time • With TSI, CO sensor is field replaceable
CO Measurement • Location CO Sensor
Technology and Measurements • Value added by TSI • Application of sensors • Adaptation for other conditions • Temperature (i.e. compensation in velocity) • Humidity • CO2 and CO • Calibration • Calculations • Data management
2.0 Measurements • Measurements and calculations • We’ll go through each product in the range
