The Corn Production and Marketing Support Project in Cameroon(CPMP) OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT Main Objective: “Enhance the capacity of rural populations to produce more, sell better and generate growing income in a sustainable process, in the corn value chain”.
The Corn Production and Marketing Support Project in Cameroon(CPMP) OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECTPilot phase in the North West Region Specific Objectives: • Community Market Committees • Regional Farming Training Network • Regional Farming School and seed multiplication Unit (RFS-SPU) • Community Farming Schools and seed multiplication units (CFS-SPU) • 5 farming trainers trained • 10 young seed multipliers trained and installed • 20 Community Technology Transfer Units • 20 ha modern cultivation in community farms • 3 ha cultivation for seed multiplication • 2000-6000 rural beneficiaries
The Corn Production and Marketing Support Project in Cameroon(CPMP) STATE OF ACHIEVEMENTS • 5 studies on market facilities and organization • 5 Market Committees of 9 members each in 5 areas • 2 strategic workshops with farmers’ Group Leaders • 200 kg of corn seeds distributed • 3 ha prepared for the North West RFS-SPU • Discussions open with the Agriculture Research Institute for Development (IRAD) in preparation for a MOU on research result deissemination
