It was cold on Monday morning, and all the year 6’s were waiting nervously in the school hall to head off to camp. The week was full of excitement and fun. There was lots of rain, a giant hill to climb, lots of dirty mud and small caves, beautiful plants and smoky camp fires. What an awesome week it was!
Monday We got out of our jam packed cars and raced to choose our beds. Then we got changed into our wet weather gear because, much to our disgust, we had to go for a walk in the pouring rain. We looked at the power station and the green lake. It was beautiful. When we got back we were drenched. We then got dressed into warm clothes and had the first taste of Ro’s delicious cooking and went to bed.
Tuesday It was a hot day on Tuesday and all the children were on their way to the Rata tree and then on our big 5 hour walk. The Rata tree was really cool. It was between 800 – 1000 years old. On the big walk, my group was group 1 and we had Mrs Baudinet so we were really fast, so fast that we were about 10 – 15 minutes ahead of team 2 and Mrs Baudinet thought we were pretty cool.
Wednesday We got to the caves and it started to rain. It was awesomely muddy and extremely slippery. We went under two really squishy caves and up a really steep one. We also ended up in the same place three times! The caving was extraordinary.
Thursday It was a nice day on Thursday and we went on a beautiful bush walk which had a really pretty lake. We also went on a loop walk. It was awesome too because it had the most beautiful waterfalls with pretty little calm bits after them. I loved the waterfalls.
Friday Yay it was Friday! It was time to go home. I was so happy because I was going to get to see my Mum and Dad. But first we went to the courts and the girls played truth, dare or double dare and the boys played cricket or soccer. It was really interesting to what some of the girls dares were. It was really fun. Overall I thought that camp was really fun and I wouldn’t mind doing it again.
