NOAA’s National Weather Service Submitted: 10:00 AM, Wed., Sept. 8th The following is a hazardous weather briefing from the National Weather Service in Springfield, MO, issued at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8th. This briefing should not be used beyond 10:00 PM on September 8th, or if local weather conditions become unrepresentative. Heavy Rain and Flash Flood Potential National Weather Service - Springfield, Missouri www.weather.gov/springfield

Overview • Heavy rain expected to overspread the area SW to NE late afternoon and evening through Thursday. • Potential exists for 3-5 inches of rain across the area. • Heaviest rain likely along I-44 corridor during the day Thursday. • Flash flood watch in effect from this evening through late Thursday.

  5. Other Concerns • Winds will likely be gusty during the day Thursday. • In addition, there could be a conditional threat of a few strong or perhaps severe thunderstorms on Thursday. • Best chance for severe weather and gusty winds will be ahead and just south of surface low pressure.

  6. Recap • Heavy rain expected to overspread area late today through Thursday. • Potential exists for 3-5 inches of rain across the area, with locally higher amounts possible. • Flash flood watch in effect from this evening through Thursday night for most of the area.
