5. Planning Homework/Assignments Assignment #2: Child Abuse/Neglect Book Review • Purpose: Familiarity with and resources for the topic of CA/N • Directions: Write and present a summary review of a book focusing on the topic of CA/N

Planning Homework/Assignments Assignment #2: Child Abuse/Neglect Book Review • Considerations: Non-Fiction or Fiction are acceptable • Non-Fiction: More directly addressing you as the educator and your responsibilities, ideas for response/help, etc. Does it help you? • Fiction: More directed toward your students and what they’re dealing with. Is it appropriate for them? How do you know? • SPU Library: 4th floor in the Juvenile section. Lots of options but not necessarily what you’re looking for in terms of level, course taught, etc. • Amazon or Other: Infinite options, but you’re most likely going to have to buy and you’ll really want to do your research before committing.

Planning Homework/Assignments Assignment #2: Child Abuse/Neglect Book Review • Rubric: “Write & Present…” • Write: Rubric online, posted on Blackboard covering 4 main criteria: • Summary review of the text’s main idea(s) • Minimum 3 ways text does/doesn’t align with legal/ethical • Reflective thought • Mechanics: 3-5 pages APA 6th edition, spelling, grammar, etc. • Present: Small group discussion format during in-class time to share with each other.
