  2. Early background • Adolf Hitler was born in Austria on April 20th 1889 • Adolf Hitler grew up with and abusive father, but loved his mother very much.

  3. Hitler tried to become an artist, but could only paint scenery. • He joined the army and served in WW1 • Imprisoned after WW1, wrote a book called Mein Kampf.

  4. Rise to Power • Elected Chancellor of Germany in 1933

  5. “Restoring Germany’s Glory” • Hitler promised to restore Germany to it’s former glory. • He tried to exterminate all Jews, gypsies, blacks, and homosexuals because they weren’t a part of his perfect Aryan race. • He built new roads, buildings, and prison camps. • He made new jobs and stimulated the economy.

  6. Effect on the World • Caused the Holocaust (genocide of millions of Jews) and WW2 • Murdered more that 34,000,000 • Changed
