Computational Thinking CSE 3 – Fluency with Information Technology (FIT) CSE 3 taught me processes of Computational Thinking. I learned basic HTML and XHTML Programming skills. Knowledge gained from this class boosted my “computer literate” and I could apply concept to outside sources. Making Information Available to the World with HTML and Web Pages Visual Programming with Alice • Basic HTML utilized in Notepad++ and transferred onto online webpages using SSH Secure Shell. • Headings, Background colors, Font colors, Horizontal Lines, Insertion of Images, Links, etc. We learned to use Alice, an animating program in which different objects can be added and manipulated to perform specific actions. The picture on the right shows two frogs I programmed to greet other frogs sitting on a lily pad. They proceeded to jump in the lake with certain parameters. Presentation of Information with MS PPT In this section, we learned how to effectively present information created on MS excel on a MS PPT. Animation and design options were important in the display of information. Desktop Publishing with MS Word • Different design possibilities on MS Word • Page numbers, Table of Contents, Headings & Subheadings, etc. • Importance of a Works Cited Data Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel • Different functions of MS excel, such as • Rows & columns • 3D pies • IF, SUM, & other formulas • True or false statements • Design in terms of icon sets Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript For these labs, we created automatic pop-up boxes on webpages, asking several questions. On the right, we created a “TritonJuice” webpage. We created clickable buttons with different sizes and flavors of juices.
