To All Interested Parties: The Denver Boxing Academy, Inc. is a nonprofit organization registered with the state of Colorado. We like you to know who we are and what we stand for, and our directive when it comes to our amateur boxers in the United States of America. The Denver Boxing Academy is proud to present Cinco de Mayo Champions Event. The Event will be held on May 3 and 4 in union with Denver’s Cinco de Mayo festivities. The event is a USA Boxing sanctioned event and brought to you in conjunction with the United States Boxing League.Amateur. The Cinco de Mayo festival is noted as one of the largest cultural events in Colorado, with more than 400,000 visitors each year. This festival features fabulous live cultural entertainment on four stages, an art gallery, great food and drink and many children's activities. Fun for the whole family! The 27th annual Cinco de Mayo festival is the nation’s largest Cinco de Mayo celebration, 2014 can easily conquer the 500,000 mark! USBL.AmateurCinco de Mayo Championships will be held in concurrence with the 27th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival and Parade presented by NEWSED (New West Side Economic Development) on Sunday, May 4, 2014. USBL.AmateurCinco de Mayo Championships is a two day event with preparatory Contests being held on Saturday, May 3 at the Denver Boxing Academy events center and the Championship contests being held at the 27th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival and Parade, at the corner of 14th and Broadway.
USBL.Amateur • USBL.Amateur is the amateur union of the United States Boxing League, Inc, known as the United States Boxing League.Amateur (USBL.Amateur). Although associated with the United States Boxing League, Inc. The USBL.Amateur is within its rights, its own independent incorporation. • USBL.Amateur is comprised of membership, including boxers, coaches, clubs, officials, and physicians with the purpose of enhancing amateur boxing in the United States of America. Our focus is to provide an avenue of success for elite amateur boxers. Our system puts in place the tools needed for the elite class of amateur boxers to further skills and gain exposure. • Interstate competition is by far the best way to gain and improve talent and skills and this is what we make available. USBL.Amateur, through our Elite Amateur Action series of events pairs elite amateurs from different states to compete against each other. No longer will clubs and coaches struggle to match up their boxers against premier competition. No more competing against the same pool of local boxers. • USBL.Amateur accepts as true, interstate competition being the greatest tool in sharpening and fine tuning the skills of elite amateur boxers and therefore promotes events focusing on state-to-state competition. • “The Mission of USBL.Amateur shall be to enable United States amateur boxing athletes to achieve sustained competitive excellence, develop character, support amateur boxing, promote and grow the sport of amateur boxing in the United States.”
USA Boxing • USA Boxing is recognized by the International Boxing Federation (AIBA) as the national federation responsible for governance of the sport of boxing in the United States, in accordance with the statues, rules, regulations, and code of AIBA • USA Boxing is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as the national governing body for the sport of boxing in the United States in accordance with the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act • The mission of USA Boxing shall be to enable United States' athletes and coaches to achieve sustained competitive excellence, develop character, support the sport of boxing, and promote and grow Olympic style boxing in the United States. The responsibility of USA Boxing is not only to produce Olympic gold, but also oversee and govern every aspect of amateur boxing in the United States.
For Immediate Release: 2014 Cinco de Mayo Champions Event DENVER (February , 2014) – The Denver Boxing Academy boxing club present Cinco de Mayo Champions. The experience is part of the USBL.Amateur’s ‘Elite Amateur Action series of events and sanctioned by USA Boxing. The Cinco de Mayo Champions event will take place Saturday and Sunday May 3 and 4 in concurrence with Denver’s Cinco de Mayo festivities being held in downtown Denver Civic Center Park. Denver’s Cinco de Mayo celebration is the largest in the nation, with over 400,000 attendees throughout the weekend. It is expected at the time of boxing competition, over 20,000 boxing fans will witness the live action. Early confirmation and participating in the event will be outstanding and promising lightweight Misael Lopez, Nationally ranked Jesus Vasquez, Melik Elliston, Carlos Carrillo and Henry Allen Jr. USBL.Amateur is currently working with several teams outside the country to add to the roster of elite open class amateur boxers. Cinco de Mayo Champions event is a major step in USBL.Amateur’s undertaking to produce top quality American amateur boxers to represent the United States of America in the 2016 Olympics Games. Cinco de Mayo Championships is a two day event with preparatory contests being held on Saturday, May 3 and will be hosted at the Denver Boxing Academy Events Center, 3540 East 31st Avenue, Denver, CO 80205. The championship contests will be held during the Denver’s Cinco de Mayo festivities, Downtown Denver at Civic Center Park, at the corner of 14th and Broadway. Cinco de Mayo Champions event is open to all open class and experienced amateur boxers, both male and female. The Cinco de Mayo Champions is a USA Boxing sanctioned event, all rules applied. Proof of citizenship not required to participate. Entry fee $35 per contestant, late entries will be at a higher rate. Coaches and Officials are free of charge but required to register in order to receive credentials. USA Boxing Officials coming in from outside Colorado are encouraged to work the event, must bring USA Boxing uniform and registration book. ADMISSION All admission is general and FREE REGISTRATION FORMS AND FEES Registration forms are available as on-line registration or download and mail-in. Athlete entry fee is $35 per contestant if received by Sunday, April 27; the fee is $50 thereafter. Registration closes on May 1; APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINE OF APRIL 27 WILL BE DECLINED. On-line registration forms become valid at the time of on-line submission but must be signed at check in and prior the start of competition. Check in continues on Friday, May 2 8:00AM – 3:00pm Weigh-ins: every morning of competition at 8:00AM. ONLY ATHLETES SCHEDULED TO BOX ARE REQUIRED TO REPORT TO WEIGH-‐INS • No coaches will be allowed at the scale. A boxer winning a Preparatory Contest shall maintain and weigh in the second day at a weight keeping him/her within the weight differential in which he/she competed. Trial scales will be available throughout the tournament. Physicals: will begin following the weigh-ins MATCH-UPS • Match-ups will be done by computer using weight differentials allowed by USA Boxing rules. Bout sheets will be posted at the arena each morning prior to weigh-‐ins. Bout sheets will be posted on-line at http://amateur.usboxingleague.com each morning. COMPETITION Competition will consist of daily sessions, May 3 and 4. Preparatory action held on Saturday, with Championships on Sunday. Gold and Silver medals will be awarded in all Championship contest. Senior open class champions will be eligible to make USBL.Amateur’s “Team America”. Team America represents the United States of America in international competition.
